Founded in the scenic surroundings of Estonia's Lahemaa National Park, the Omagua Institute for Sustainability (OIS) was born out of a desire to make a difference. Recognizing the gap in free, quality education and research in sustainability, OIS set out to become a unique platform that not only offers valuable educational programs but also provides opportunities for young voices to publish their research on sustainability; without the barriers encountered in traditional academic environments.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, fostering a community of informed advocates and researchers who are actively engaged in addressing environmental and social issues. Through our collaborative and innovative approach, we strive to lay the groundwork for a sustainable future, as envisioned in our long-term goals.
Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Development
Developed in collaboration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network and taught entirely by Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs, our flagship program, the Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Development, stands as a testament to our educational vision. Its curriculum marries academic rigor with practical application, exploring the United Nations Agenda 2030 and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals; delving into topics such as sustainable business practices, policy-making, environmental conservation, and ethical decision-making.
